So up until now I have just been dealing with getting all my paperwork together for my work visa. I am now just waiting to receive my state wide criminal background check back so I can go get it apostilled, send it in, and then get my work visa number so I can set up the interview with the korean consulate in Chicago. Once that is done I will be ready to head out. I am really hoping everything will get done in time because I am supposed to start teaching October 1st and time might be getting tight.
i am definitely a bit nervous, but I think I am prepared. I know that for the first 2-3 months I will most likely get lonely, homesick, get kinda depressed and question why I chose to do this. But I know once I get past that things will go really well and in the end I will end up loving it. Another worry was that I was told that my classes would consist of 40 students each, which is a lot- specially since I have absolutely no previous teaching experience. So I will have to keep you guys posted on how that goes.
On another hand I am happy to say that I have been speaking with a couple who has just renewed their contract for another year because they really love it there. The girl, jennifer, is my 23 and speaks Spanish and loves dancing as I do. Of her husband I really don't know much. But anyways... we have been in contact for a while now and I am actually going to be really close to them, which is a huge relief because now I know that I have someone close by in case I need anything or run into any trouble.
What I want out of this coming year? .... to be able to speak Korean rather well by the end of the year, to explore this new culture, to figure out some personal life issues, to grow as a person/mature, to gain self confidence, to challenge myself, to learn to be more independent, to gain new perspectives on how I view the world, to get myself out of my comfort zone, to build new strong relationships, to find ME.
