Today I was to go get my alien registration card with Jacky (my co-teacher). So we first went to the hospital to get my medical results and then headed out to immigration for the rest. On they way over there I practiced some Spanish with her and it was a lot of fun. She is good. I think by the end of the year she will have learned lots of Spanish. Anyways.... that was not a very exciting part of the day. But after we got all that paperwork stuff done we headed out to a gym
I had mentioned to Jacky that i wanted to join a gym and so she took me to see one. The only thing is that it has a pool and an actual gym but not weightlifting facilities. But I think because adults 24 and over. pay 65,000won per month to use the pool but I am considered youth, which means I only have to pay 42,000 per month (about $40),which is super cheap AND there is a free shuttle that I catch right outside of the pool that gets me to school. So Starting Oct 16th I will be going to the pool every morning and then be heading out to school. Cant wait!
After the pool we went to get this one present for one of the other teachers because I guess this one other teacher is her boss and there is a holiday coming up and so the one teacher (grace) is getting a present. Afterwards we got lunch. Got some Korean noodles with kimchee and some weird sauce that was good. Jacky is kinda sneaky. She told the school that immigration might take a while and so we would probably not be back until 3pm. which is why we had plenty of time to do all that stuff. I really enjoyed having lunch with her and chatting. She is a super cool woman. She told a bit about her past, that she had worked with this one other company for 10years (she is 34) and how she came to be at the school... what she had studied. She also told me a bit about the Korean school system in general and parents views toward their children's education... it was a good talk. Then we practiced some more Spanish. Jacky is just something else... she this tiny, super cute, super nice Korean lady with a sweet and adorable smile. I just wanna hug her all the time!!!! So yeah... then we went back to the school
At the school the teachers were having some melon and were all gathered chatting. I was at my desk and Jacky told me to come over with the other teachers and mingle. So I did. It was a bit weird at first since I don't speak Korean and so I can pick up some words but have no idea of what they were talking about. But Jacky tried to incorporate me into the conversation (considering the little English the other teachers know this is good) and encouraged the teachers to ask me questions.. she was doing some translating for me. - I am telling you.. i cannot wait until I can speak Korean well enough to express my own mind. I absolutely dislike depending on someone to tell me what someone else is saying or to translate what i am saying. Then again I HAVE only been here a little over a week. but still. i just want to learn more.
Now I am seriously considering just starting to do note cards, memorizing stuff, and doing more Rosetta stone and then maybe in a couple months take some Korean classes.
tonight i am just gonna stay home. maybe watch a movie. oh, and talk to my good friend Hope on skype. I really don't want to go out. I think I am getting sick. My throat hurts really bad. So no going out for me! :-(
