So I ended up booking a flight through Korean Air, which a friend that is now in Korea suggested. It was a good suggestion. They had really good food on the plane, in the bathroom they had toothbrushes and toothpaste so you could brush your teeth along with some body lotions and wipes for your face. Oh, and they served wine with the meals at no extra cost and the plates were actual plates and not plastic. Same for silverware. The flight actually went by rather fast. Also, the Korean flight attendants were super pretty! That's always a plus.
Upon my arrival there was a man from the school there to pick me up. He took me directly to my apartment where my co-teacher Jackie was already waiting for me. On the ride to my new place I just looked at the window. Lots of skyscrapers, traffic, everything in Korean..... Anyways... when I got there she showed me the place, answered some questions I had and then we had some dinner. Then she took me to the Home Plus, which is kind of the walmart here. So you can practically find everything you need. So I bought some food items, some waste baskets for the apartment and a couple other things I thought I would need. Then she took me back to my place. I finally finished upacking and getting everything organized.
Oh, the whole day I had been super worried because my phone had no connection and I had no way to let my parents know that I had arrived. Luckily, I found that my computer was picking up signal from some neighbor or something, so I was able to email my parents later that night and let them know that I had arrived safely. Then I saw that my good friend Hope was online and even got to chat with her through google and then talked for a bit through skype. It felt so good to hear a familiar voice after that long trip!
Going to sleep the first night was a bit strange. I did get some sleep though, since I was kind of tired
the next day we went to the hospital to get my medical exam done for the alien registration card which I need to get my bank acct, phone, etc. pretty much everything. It went by really fast. Took just about an hour or so. Oh an I met this lady, Sheryl (whose phone number I cant find!)She told me this was her fourth time coming back to Korea, and that she loved it. So she gave me her info and we decided we will meet up some time. But, since I cannot find the number I will have to look for her school number somewhere. I believe she teaches at a private school not too far from mine. So that was that. The rest of the day I just used to get oriented. Tried to walk from my place to the school (got lost) and the went to get some more stuff I needed for my apartment. luckily I was able to find my way back home because it was getting a bit dark. Now my feet really hurt. I think it was the shoes though, because I really did not do that much walking-at least i dont think I did.
About to go to bed. Tomorrow my co-teacher jacky is taking me to see my school and meet some of the other teachers. We'll see how that one goes.
