This weekend I originally had no set plans. Dana decided she was going to go to the film festival in Pusan, but I told her that until I got my first paycheck I really could not afford to go places. Since I got here I have had more expenses than I thought I would, but that is only because I had to pay for several one-time things that I had not taken into consideration. Anyways.... so I ended up deciding to stay in Suwon. In the end, i think it was a good decision. why?
well, I had talked with Jennyfer and Nick about maybe getting together and then Jennyfer told me about the Hwesong(i think this is how you write it) festival that was taking place in Suwon. So Saturday I woke up bright and early and finished up some work I had to do and then at around 1:30 i met up with nick and headed to the festival. Jennyfer was gonna meet up with us later because she had bible study with the girls and was not sure at what time they were going to get finished. So Nick and I got there, walked around a bit and then the parade started at around 3pm. It was super cool, lots of awesome costumes, good dancing, music etc etc etc. We watched the whole parade, walked around some more, and then met up Jennyfer for dinner, which by the way, as always.... simply delicious!. i love the food here.
Then today (Sunday) i met up with Jacky and with her friend Angela in Seoul, who studied in Spain for 5 months some years ago and wanted to practice some Spanish. We had a fantastic day. First we went to eat of course and then walked around, visited some Korean villages... oh and I tried on a traditional wedding dress!!! it was lots of fun. And we walked and walked some more and then ended up going to Seoul tower where we went up 300meters still on an elevator and got a fantastic view of the city. We had some good talks, danced a bit.... it was fun. Oh, then they had this music playing on the plaza by the tower and they had some awesome light effects going on (it had gotten dark by this time) and so I danced in the middle of this circle with lots of people watching and then pulled Angela to dance with me. It was fun and she did SO well. I was really proud of her because when I pulled her out to dance she kept saying "no, no!" but then she did awesome. I seriously had a phenomenal day. Both Angela and Jacky are fantastic women and lots of fun!. I like them both very much and can see that we will probably spend some more time together, which I am looking forward to. :-)
On another note: tomorrow starts my second week of school. Looking forward to it, especially because I think starting this week I get the kids by level. So I can do lots more with them. :-) will let you know later how the week goes.
