So Friday night I left ivano at the airport, then saturday I had to go to my class in Seoul. So of course, I usually try to stay for salsa night. What I ended up doing was that after my class I went to Hongdae, which is the area where the salsa bar is and I decided to look for a coffee shop where I could work on my open class for a couple of hours, after which I would go out dancing. (btw- not sure if I have mentioned about open class- I know Im going on a tangent now, but pretty much an open class is when teachers from your school and other schools come to watch your class and then they criticize and give you advice on what you could improve on. This is supposed to be a model of the PERFECT class and teachers usually work their butt off for this. So my co-teacher and I have been working on that lesson plan for the past weeks to try to make it perfect)
back to sat night. So I finally found a coffee shop and I ended up staying there for about 2 hours working on the open class, then I headed for the salsa bar. Oh and guess what! I finally found where that Macondo Salsa Bar is. If you read all my blogs, then you might remember a while ago that I spent like 3 hours walking around Hongdae trying to find this place but never actually found it. So finally, I remembered my friend told me it was by the store that sells eyeglasses and so I went back and looked and finally found it. Man was I relieved! I had been frustrated for weeks for never having found it. So now that i know where it is I can at least sleep at night :-)...
at any rate, after I found macondo, I went to my regular salsa bar Havanna. It was super nice that night becuase there were a bunch of my friends (all koreans) and so I got to dance a lot. Usually on a regular night I stay until 2 or 3 am because then I get tired and just wanna get some sleep, but that night there were lots of good people t0 dance with, so I ended up staying until 4am. or so. Oh, and I met this guy- the only other foreigner there (its usually just me!) who I guess is teaching French in Seoul at an international school or something. He was really nice, though couldnt dance that well. But at least he tried! I gotta hand it to him, he made a good effort.
So then I headed out of the salsa bar and walked to the Bathouse, where I usually go sleep. Of course, Mingu (who is super nice) walked me pretty much all the way there. Every time, if he come to dance, he always walks me to my destination once I am finished dancing. Just to make sure I am okay, which is super nice. Not that korea is dangerous or anything, but I guess it is, indeed, better to be safe than sorry.
I got to the Bathouse, took a shower and then went to sleep. Then the next morning I woke up, took another shower, headed for the hot whirlpools and the sauna for a bit, and then got changed and went home.
