I have definitely almost got run over a couple of times. Here there is no real concept of a sidewalk. Motorcycles will run by as well as bikes, so sidewalks are definitely not exclusive for pedestrian use. On another note, here in korea people tend to walk on the opposite side of the sidewalk. What do I mean>...? Usually if you are walking forward you walk on your right side, just like when you drive a car you drive on the right side of the street, same as if you ride a bike... well, in korea for some reason people think that doesnt apply to walking. Seriously over half of the population walks on the left side of the street and it is so frustrating! Why? because here you are happily talking a walk on the RIGHT side of the street and then here comes a korean person who is walking on the left side and so obviously is coming right towards you (blocking your way) and so then you have to move --- because of course koreans tend to be the ones not to move, or they just sorta slide over a bit. Anyways... after months of being frustrated with the fact that people always walk on the wrong side of the sidewalk I finally gave up and gave in. So now I too, walk on the wrong side! Since I started doing that walking has become an almost stress free activity.
